That's Right, Panzer Dragoon on a Sony Console

By Solo Wing

As reported on IGN.com, Sega are re-releasing the original Panzer Dragoon game on Sony’s Playstation 2 in an upcoming Sega Ages pack. As well as including a straight port of the original game, it sounds like Sega are planning to include a full remake of the 1995 Saturn game as well. The prospect of yet another port of the original game isn’t anything to get excited about, but if Sega manage to create a smoother, graphically updated version of the game with improved controls then we may have something to look forward to after all.

Sega will be releasing Sega Ages Volumes 20 and 21 on October the 27th this year, and Panzer Dragoon is set to be included in the 22nd instalment so I’m guessing that it will be available later in the year, or sometime in 2006. No release date has been confirmed for countries outside of Japan, so the game may or may not actually be localised. However, considering that Panzer Dragoon never had much dialogue anyway, this should only be a minor problem for English speakers who end up playing through the import version.

The Will of the Ancients will have more information about the Panzer Dragoon remake as it becomes available.

Update (08/07/2005) - It seems that I misread the line about Panzer Dragoon appearing on Sega Ages Volume 22. In actual fact, Panzer Dragoon has only been confirmed to be among the games “set to debut starting with Volume 22”, so it won’t necessarily be on Volume 22 itself.
