I’ve uploaded six new pieces of fan art to our gallery:

Please Don't Die Blue Buddy The Girl With the Dragon That Flew Azel and Watercolours Panzer Dragoon Saga Fan Poster Lundi Redesign Orta's Dragon in His Base Wing Form

The first picture, titled “Please Don’t Die Blue Buddy”, is particularly fitting considering the lack of Panzer Dragoon games from Sega in recent years. On a related note, Draikin has decided to hold off sending our Panzer Dragoon Revival petition to Sega until it reaches 1000 signatures. You can help save our blue buddy from the grave by signing and sharing the petition.

Sega-Club-Tikal, the artist of “Please Don’t Die Blue Buddy”, has also contributed a high resolution scan of the front cover of Prima’s official Panzer Dragoon Orta strategy guide.

I think they’re all stunning. There really is a lot of talent among Panzer Dragoon fans. Keep up the good work, all of you.

PXL has submitted a number of photos of his growing Panzer Dragoon collection. I’ll be adding these to the website over time. To start us off, here’s four photos of the rare Panzer Dragoon Orta themed Xbox:

Atolm has contributed a new picture of a Panzer Dragoon-like dragon. I particularly like the dragon’s jaw, which reminds me of White Reaver from Crimson Dragon: Side Story. The colours used with this design are great too.

Be sure to check out Atolm’s other pictures linked from her dragoon profile if you haven’t done so already. They’re all great.

Panzer Dragoon Figure at Wonfes 2013

A small update today to show you what must be the best Panzer Dragoon figure I’ve ever seen. The Panzer Dragoon “garage kit” (referring to how these sculptures are often made by hobbyists using their garages as a workshop) shows the Blue Dragon and Kyle from the first Panzer Dragoon game. It’s a ridiculously detailed and faithful rendition of the pair. There’s also a second, slightly different figure of the dragon alone which hasn’t been painted yet. Take a look at the photos here:

Kyle and the Blue Dragon Figurine (1 of 2) Kyle and the Blue Dragon Figurine (2 of 2) Unpainted Blue Dragon Figurine

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find additional information on their origin. Garage kits are usually very limited and expensive (and probably not licensed by Sega either), so it’s unlikely that any fans will be able to acquire these.

Our thanks go to Tomopop for the photos.

Encyclopaedia Entry for Panzer Dragoon's First Episode

Avatar

Published by Solo Wing in Contributions

I’ve created an encyclopaedia entry for the lake featured in episode 1 of Panzer Dragoon, the very first gameplay level that players are introduced to in the series.

Lack of time has prevented me from working more on the encyclopaedia, so expect these encyclopaedia entries to be released less frequently from now on (unless others wish to contribute). However, I fully intend to continue adding to and improving the encyclopaedia over time, adding the remaining characters from the Panzer Dragoon Original Video Animation, more locations, creatures, and ships, as well as entries for the people who worked on the Panzer Dragoon series. If you have any preferences regarding which entries you’d like to see next, please let me know.

I have also set up a corrosponding encyclopaedia entry for the shirt.

I’ve also recieved some rare product pictures from PXL who continues to grow his impressive Panzer Dragoon collection. However, those will have to wait until another update when I find some time to sort through them all.

New Fan Art of Shelcoof and the Blue Dragon

My thanks go to Omegapoo for this one. It’s a picture of the Blue Dragon firing lasers at Shelcoof.

Shelcoof and the Blue Dragon

Although non-canonical, the drawing depicts Kyle Fluge as the dragon rider even though he never encountered Shelcoof during the events of Panzer Dragoon. The artist has told me that this is because Kyle is the only rider of the four game protagonists who has not encountered Shelcoof in some form during his adventures.

Here’s the final part of my Crimson Dragon: Side Story playthrough, covering World 5 of the game’s story mode. Be sure to check out the previous parts if you haven’t already.

Video Details for "Crimson Dragon: Side Story - Story Mode - World 5"

As with the other parts, there’s a YouTube version and a compiled script of the text from World 5.

I hope these videos encourage some of you to try Crimson Dragon: Side Story. Or if you don’t have access to a Windows Phone, I hope I’ve satisfied your curiosity of what the gameplay and story are like. Despite some interface issues and a few minor grievances with other aspects of the game, for a mobile game Grounding have done an excellent job with Side Story. The game ends with the words “To Be Continued”. I look forward to seeing where Grounding takes this franchise next.

White Reaver Helmet and T-Shirt

I’ve uploaded some screenshots of Uriptical, my Xbox Live avatar. The avatar is dressed in a helmet and t-shirt based on White Reaver’s design from Crimson Dragon: Side Story. As those who have played Crimson Dragon: Side Story will know, White Reaver is the laser-breathing dragon whom you control in the game.

New Encyclopaedia Entry: Alita

Avatar

Published by Solo Wing in Contributions

I’ve created a new encyclopaedia entry for the character Alita from the Panzer Dragoon Original Video Animation. Although Alita is not featured in the Panzer Dragoon video games, she is given a promement role in the anime’s storyline. We’ll likely cover more characters from the Panzer Dragoon OVA as the encyclopaedia grows.

Music From Crimson Dragon: Side Story

Avatar

Published by Solo Wing in Contributions

I’ve uploaded the music from Crimson Dragon: Side Story. The music was composed by Saori Kobayashi, who was also responsible for a great deal of the music found in Panzer Dragoon Orta, as well as Panzer Dragoon Saga itself. In many respects, the style of music is very similar to that found in the Panzer Dragoon series. If you’re Panzer Dragoon fan, Crimson Dragon: Side Story’s Panzerish soundtrack is definitely worth checking out. You might recognise the track “Hestrine” from the trailer for the main Crimson Dragon title.

You can listen to the tracks in your web browser, or download them as MP3 or Ogg Vorbis files. My thanks go to CheloXL for providing the original ripped WMA files. I’ve added metadata to the tracks, so they’ll show up as a single fifteen track album in iTunes or whatever music player you use.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Demo

Avatar

Published by Solo Wing in Contributions

It has come to my attention that there’s a demo of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, available for download from Xbox Live. It’s only available to Gold subscribers, however. The Sega Source has reported that the demo includes Dragon Canyon, the track based on the Panzer Dragoon series, along with a Golden Axe track. The Sega Source also writes that PlayStation 3 owners will also have access to the demo; this will be once the network is updated which is done on a regional basis.

If you don’t have access to the demo, you can see the entirety of Dragon Canyon in a playthrough video that Draikin posted in the previous update.

Unboxing the Panzer Dragoon Orta Xbox

PXL has submitted a video of himself unboxing the rare Panzer Dragoon Orta themed Xbox. The original video had a French narration, but PXL kindly recorded an English version for The Will of the Ancients. You can view the video below in high definition 720p:

Only 999 of these Xboxes were made, so this is a rare sight indeed. I’ve also uploaded the video our new YouTube channel where you can play the video at lower resolutions and in Flash; handy if you’re using a slow connection or an older web browser.

Entries For the Beginning of Panzer Dragoon Saga

Avatar

Published by Solo Wing in Contributions

I’ve created four new encyclopaedia entries. The first three discuss some of the locations experienced by players near the beginning of Panzer Dragoon Saga: Above the Excavation, Excavation Site #74, and the Valley. I’ve also written an entry for the valley area’s boss: the Arachnoth. With these articles comes the completion of the encyclopaedia entries describing the first section of Panzer Dragoon Saga. The Garil Desert lies before us and Gash is waiting for that lift…

Environmental Ethics in the Panzer Dragoon World

Avatar

Published by Solo Wing in Contributions

I’ve written a second article for the site’s Philosophy section which contains articles discussing philosophical themes and issues found in the Panzer Dragoon series. This latest article is called Environmental Ethics in the Panzer Dragoon World. It focuses on the values of different factions and characters who live in the Panzer Dragoon world. The relationship between humans and their environment is an important theme in Panzer Dragoon Saga and the article aims to show how this theme maps to the values of the Panzer world’s inhabitants.

New Fan Art of Edge Carrying Azel

Avatar

Published by Solo Wing in Contributions

I’ve added a touching piece of fan art to the website called “Last Hope”, created by Dmikado. It’s a pencil sketch of Edge carrying an unconscious Azel, humanity’s last hope.

Last Hope

I’m sure many of us can recall the scene from Panzer Dragoon Saga when Edge catches a falling, unconscious Azel shortly after he sends her dragon Atolm to the grave. This drawing reminded me of that scene, even though Edge was sitting down on his dragon. It would more than likely match a later scene when Edge brings Azel to Craymen in the Tower.
