Azel's Journey

The monster’s oil burned the twigs and the branches that she managed to save before she entered Garil Desert well, sending a warm feeling to everybody that sat surround it. Azel sat at one corner as she was watching the preparation of the food silently. One of them, the one that she knew as Sharp, approached her with a plate of roasted monster’s meat and told her to eat. When she refused to eat, he just put the plate beside her and settled himself down near her.

“Hey, eat!” he ordered her, gesturing to the food with his thumb. When Azel still refused, he just shrugged and shook his head in confusion. Boss had told him to take care of the ‘pretty lady’, so he was not going to give up just like that. Anyway, he was just going to talk to her like nothing was happened in the mean time.

“Woman, you’re very lucky, you know!”

Azel snapped her head up, and then looked at him. “Why?”

Sharp chuckled lightly, then answered her, “Boss had never been that ‘gentle’ to our other preys. He is usually more ‘harsh’. Don’t know what makes him so interested in you. Well, you are beautiful, but there are other girls that are as beautiful as you and he kept avoiding them.” He turned to Azel and gave her a wink, saying, “Consider yourself lucky, being under his care. You’ll find your lover soon.”

A faint pink crept on her cheek and Sharp gave her a knowing smile. “So my guess is right?” he prompted.

Azel looked away from him and said flatly, “We’re not lovers.”

“Maybe now…. but later?” Sharp pressed her further.

“I don’t even know his feelings toward me.”

The older man sighed. Azel was hopeless. She was really not a very good company for long journey. Just look at the way she handled the conversation. She was only saying things in bit and pieces without further attempt to continue it.
